Jeffrey  Fontanez from Caguas, Puerto Rico  improves to 9-0 (8) with a second round TKO over Pedro Arcos (12-3-1, 9 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico. Referee Tony Chiarantano immediately halted the bout at 1:23 of round two.
Puerto Rican lightweight  Michael "The Artist" Perez and Fernando Carcano engaged in a 8 round slugfest scoring multiple knockdowns. Newark’s Perez dropped Carcano with a big right hand in round one. Carano scored a knockdown of his own in round two. The fighters continued trading throughout the fight but Perez would end up getting the better of the exchanges scoring another knock down from a left hook and right uppercut dropping in the 8th round. Scores were 78-71 and 77-72 (2x).
New Jersey's own featherweight Jorge Diaz (17-1 (10) won a 6 round unanimous decision win over tough Texan Victor Sanchez (3-6-1) in a featherweight bout. Diaz dropped Sanchez with a big right hand in round one. Sanchez was able to come back but the knock down probably made the difference. Unanimous scores of 60-53 (3x).
Undefeated  junior middleweight prospects, Bronx native Eddie Gomez (12-0, 8 KOs) defeats Puerto Rican Luis Hernandez (9-1, 5 KOs). Without warning, referee Tony Chiarantano deducted a point from Gomez in the sixth and final round for a low blow that appeared to be unintentional.

What: WBA World Light Middleweight Title fight, 12 rounds
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York

Armando Romo – Las Vegas
The Puerto Rican superstar has only lost in Sin City and while not too many people pay attention to ritualistic behavior or superstitious actions, I believe that this fight is in The Big Apple for one simple reason; Cotto winning. His 3 losses came at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas and sometimes as a professional athlete it’s tough to shake those demons that sprout following a defeat. After thrilling fans with 40 total outings including exciting victories over Ricardo Torres, Zab Judah, Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley, who knows how much longer the proud warrior has left? I’m guessing that if Cotto’s boxing career is a music album; we are likely listening to the last couple of songs therefore without question things have to go smoothly and the margin of error is almost non-existent. Miguel is unbeaten at The Garden and finding himself surrounded by his loving, supporting fan base will do wonders for his performance this weekend resulting in a signature win.

Another reason I’m picking Cotto to walk out of New York triumphant besides home town advantage is that while Trout is a durable opponent who will..........

GERBER AIMING TO PRESENT HIMSELF WITH THE GREATEST GIFT
Author: FRANK BLEYDORN / SAUERLAND EVENT
Picture: Photo Wende
Date: 12/1/2012

It seems like the festive spirit is taking over. The Austrian Boxing Federation (FVA) let Michael Sprott (26-19, 17 KOs) of the hook and reduced his ban in order for him to face Edmund Gerber (22-0, 14 KOs) for the second time on December 15. The heavyweight clash is part of the undercard to the WBO Super Middleweight World Championship between Arthur Abraham (35-3, 27 KOs) and Mehdi Bouadla (26-4, 11 KOs).

After Sprott´s TKO loss to Edmund Gerber on September 15, the 37-year-old seemed to have let the frustration get the better of him as he went to confront Referee Gerhard Sigl and ended up pushing him, as he did not believe that Sigl had to stop the fight. Just a few days after the event in Bamberg, Germany, the sanctioning body of the fight (FVA) decided to ban the man from Reading for three months. However, due to the fact that Sprott previously had a record of immaculate behaviour he was granted permission to participate in Nuremberg, just a few days before the official end of the ban.

In contrary to Sprott, Edmund Gerber has already been back inside the ring since the happenings from Bamberg. In Halle/Westphalia, the 24-year-old wo..........

COTTO-TROUT IN A SUPERSTAR VETERAN VS HUNGRY UNDERDOG BATTLE
Author: MARK LYONS
Date: 12/1/2012

As the year winds down we still have some major events ahead of us, one of them takes place tomorrow night when Miguel Cotto takes on Austin Trout in a Jr. Middleweight unification fight. I can’t tell you which alphabet belts are up for grabs and I don’t care to look it up, let’s just say two good fighters are squaring off in a significant match up. A match up that has carried an eerie feeling of Shane Mosley versus Winky Wright for me since the moment I saw it was signed.

Miguel Cotto is one of the few names that resonate beyond the hardcore faction of boxing fans. In today’s sport, where top guys fight twice a year and one loss means you suck to the majority of fans, when a guy of Cotto’s stature is taking on a relative unknown it usually mea..........

Author: HENNESSY SPORTS
Date: 11/30/2012

London (30 November) TYSON Fury says he will send out a clear message to the world that he is the future of the heavyweight division when he defeats American Kevin Johnson in their WBC World heavyweight title eliminator.

Fury and Johnson meet at Belfast's Odyssey Arena tomorrow night in the Hennessy Sports show which is live on Channel 5 and also features unbeaten middleweight prospect Chris Eubank jnr.

"I'm the best heavyweight since Lennox Lewis and after this fight I want Vitali Klitschko or Wladmir Kliktschko. This man is getting smashed to bits," said undefeated Fury.

"Forget about David Haye and David Price, they're not in my league and after I beat Johnson there's no American left who could take on the Klitschkos so that just leaves me.

"People haven't seen the best of me. I'm still only 24 but on Saturday night in Belfast you will see just how much I have improved and people won't believe the shape I'm in. I could have a 20-round war if I had to.

The fight has been added to Frank Warren's multi-title extravaganza that features the best of British, including Ricky Burns, George Groves and Billy Joe Saunders, all live and exclusive on The Channel of Champions BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

West Drayton's O'Meara was due to fight Ghana's Obadai Sai, who was and still is the mandatory challenger for the title, but Sai was unavailable due to injury which allowed O'Meara to face Liverpool's Smith for the vacant title, with the winner to face Sai within 90 days.

MANFREDO JR. RETURNS WITH A WIN
Author: MICHAEL PARENTE / CES
Date: 11/30/2012

LINCOLN, R.I. (Nov. 29, 2012) – Nearly one year removed from what he originally thought would be his last fight, “The Pride Of Providence” made an emphatic –and successful – return to the ring Thursday night in front of his hometown fans.

Peter Manfredo Jr. (38-8) dominated Pittsburgh, Pa., challenger Rayco Saunders (22-19-2) to earn a 99-91, 100-90, 100-90 unanimous-decision win at Twin River Casino in the 10-round main event of Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports’ “The Pride Is Back” professional boxing event.

Manfredo Jr., who last fought in November of 2011 in a knockout loss to world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., spent seven weeks with legendary trainers Freddie Roach and Ernie Zavala in preparation of Thursday’s fight and it showed as “The Pride Of Providence” utilized a steady jab throughout the night and simply out-worked the over-matched Saunders.

“Tonight, I felt good,” Manfredo Jr. said. “This was the longest layover I ever had. He was very, though – the biggest guy I’ve fought in a while. I just used my jab. Ernie and Freddi..........

PRYCE IS RIGHT FOR EUBANK JNR
Author: HENNESSY SPORTS
Date: 11/30/2012

Belfast (29 Nov) CHRIS Eubank jnr will have the hardest test of his career when he battles with former Commonwealth champion Bradley Pryce at Belfast's Odyssey Arena on Saturday night on the undercard of Tyson Fury's WBC World heavyweight title eliminator with American Kevin Johnson.

Promoter Mick Hennessy is delighted that Welshman Pryce has stepped in at short notice after original opponent Matt Hainey pulled out.
Pryce, who had been in training for a fight December 15, has a wealth of experience and in his last fight went the distance in a Commonwealth middleweight title fight with Billy Joe Saunders
Promoter Hennessy said: “Bradley Pryce has shown that he is a true fighting man by taking this fight. He had been in training but he deserves a lot of credit for stepping up at this stage to fight a hot prospect like Chris Eubank jnr.
“Pryce is a former Commonwealth light-middleweight champion, he went the distance with Billy Joe Saunders in his last fight and he's going to give Eubank jnr a real test of his credentials.
“Eubank jnr has done everything that has been asked of him so far and he's a rising star and this is another big stage for him to shine. I think the Belfast public and those watching on Channel 5 are in for a treat.”
Eubank jnr is following in the large footsteps of his famous father, former World cham..........
