London (20 November) JOHN O’Donnell is determined to show that he is the best 10st 7lb fighter in Britain when he battles with Irish welterweight champion Stephen Haughian on December 1 at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

The 27-year-old from Shepherd’s Bush in London lost a British title challenge to Craig Watson last year but is determined to prove his career is back on track when he faces Haughian over eight rounds on the supporting bill to unbeaten heavyweight prospect Tyson Fury’s showdown with former world title challenger Kevin Johnson in Belfast.

Author: HENNESSY SPORTS
Date: 11/20/2012

London (20 November) TOUGH American Kevin Johnson says former World heavyweight champion Larry Holmes will inspire him to defeat Tyson Fury in their 12-round showdown at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on December 1st.

Thirty-three-year-old Johnson started his professional career with the legendary heavyweight and is confident that the knowledge he gained from Holmes will give him the advantage over unbeaten Fury on the Channel 5 televised battle.

Johnson commented: “I learned from the best working with Larry Holmes at the start of my career. He’s a boxing legend and he taught me everything I know – he taught me all the things that Fury wishes he knew.

“It was a real boxing education working with Larry, he did it all in the ring. So I know that I have the tools to beat Fury, no doubt.

GEORGES "RUSH" ST. PIERRE

The sold-out crowd at the Bell Centre in Canada went home happy tonight as native son and welterweight king, Georges "Rush" St. Pierre returned to reclaim his throne following a vintage performance win over Interim Champion, Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit for the UFC 154 main event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The 19-month layoff seemed irrelevant right out of the gate as Georges cut of the cage and pressured his foe behind constant leg kicks and right hands disarming Condit of any offense in the 1st round. Georges got the shot in as well, taking the fight to the mat, working his ground and pound immediately opening up a cut on Carlos' forehead. The ex-WEC Champion weathered the storm but was a bloody mess walking back to his corner. More of the same in the 2nd stanza from St. Pierre then with about 2 minutes left, a Condit kick was caught by Georges enabling him to easily score another takedown.

The momentum drastically changed halfway into the 3rd round when a 2-punch-kick combination by Condit floored the Canadian icon. The punches missed their mark but a left high leg kick caught Georges on..........
